How, with your help, we’re supporting people this winter

As temperatures plummet and snow falls, and as people’s incomes are stretched to breaking point by soaring food, gas and electricity costs, we’re seeing increasing need across our seven food bank welcome centres. Last week alone we provided more than 300 emergency food parcels – higher even than in the middle of the pandemic. Four […]

Thank you for sharing some warmth this winter

Thanks to the generosity of local people, our Warmer Winter appeal has amazingly reached 70% of its target already – and we’ve been able to start providing extra £49 energy top-up vouchers to people and families referred to us in hardship. With soaring costs of food, gas and electricity, every day we’re meeting people who […]

Warmer Winter appeal hits £9,000!

Every day at Wandsworth Foodbank we’re meeting people and families at the sharpest end of the cost of living crisis, who can’t afford to top-up their gas and electricity prepayment meters. Some families have told us they’re living in just one room of their home, to economise on the cost of heat and light. Many […]

We’re concerned for people like Hugh*, who phoned us this week and said: “I’ve always managed until […]

FOODBANK CENTRES CLOSED MONDAY & TUESDAY DUE TO EXTREME HEAT

We’ve cancelled our food bank sessions on today and tomorrow (Monday 18 at St Mike’s and Tuesday 19 July at St Mark’s) due to the unprecedented heatwave. Many people we support have health conditions, or very young children. Both sessions were due to run in the hottest part of the day, and we don’t think […]

We’re asking for the Real Living Wage for Wandsworth

We’ve seen during the pandemic just how important our keyworkers are. We’ve clapped for them, we’ve celebrated them, and now is our opportunity to together ask for the Real Living Wage for them. With the cost of living rising at the fastest rate in 30 years, we’ve seen how low pay impacts the lives of […]
