We’ve cancelled our food bank sessions on today and tomorrow (Monday 18 at St Mike’s and Tuesday 19 July at St Mark’s) due to the unprecedented heatwave.
Many people we support have health conditions, or very young children. Both sessions were due to run in the hottest part of the day, and we don’t think anyone should have to make that journey to us and home again in such extreme heat.
We will phone and text everyone referred to these centres, to offer alternative provision. This will include inviting guests to food bank welcome sessions from Wednesday onwards at our different locations, when the red heat warning has passed.
We have a small number of home deliveries booked for Tuesday afternoon (for people who can’t get to one of our centres because of disability or illness). These will go ahead, thanks to our wonderful delivery volunteers.
