About us

We provide a warm welcome, emergency food and practical support to local people in their hardest moments

Across the UK, one in four people live in poverty, and one in seven people face hunger.

Almost 1 in 5 people claiming Universal Credit and disability payments have used a food bank in the last month. Our social security system should be there for all of us when we need it most, but right now it’s not even providing enough to cover the cost of life’s essentials – driving hardship and hunger in our community.

Closer to home in Wandsworth, 28% of children are growing up in poverty*. We provided more than 12,638 emergency food supplies to local people and families in 2024-25, alongside support and advice to help tackle the issues causing hardship and hunger. Concerningly, 63% of food parcels went to hosueholds with children.

When people are referred to Wandsworth Foodbank with a food bank voucher, most visit one of our six food bank welcome centres in churches and community centres across the borough. We also provide home delivery to people referred to us who can’t get to our centres because of disability or ill-health, which is about one in five households referred.

None of this would be possible without the continued, incredible generosity of people in our local community who refuse to stand by when local people and families are going without.

We are so grateful to everyone who gives food, money and time to provide emergency help, support and hope to local people and families in hardship.  Thank you.

We’re part of Junction Community Trust, a local charity set up by St Mark’s Church, Battersea Rise to help people find practical support in its parish and across Wandsworth Borough. We’re also part of the Trussell national community of food banks.
