Harvest in the city

12th September 2025

We’re so grateful to everyone who celebrates Harvest in the city by donating essential food items and toiletries to Wandsworth Foodbank, to help local people.

Last year, thanks to the generosity of local people, we were able to provide 12,638 emergency food parcels to local people and families experiencing hardship, from our six welcome centres across Wandsworth Borough. This was a 96% increase on five years ago, and 63% of all food parcels went to local households with children.

But as the need for food parcels has increased, donations of food and finances have dropped slightly, as many generous supporters have also been squeezed by the cost of living crisis and are unable to donate as much.

We know this winter will be a difficult one for many, and so we’re asking our local community to help us continue to make a difference to people on the lowest incomes who will need to use our food bank.

If you can, please:

If you’re part of a local church that’s celebrating Harvest, you may also like to look at Trussell’s free Harvest resources, designed to inspire action and solidarity in response to the injustice of poverty in the UK.

We know food banks are not a long-term solution, because hunger is not a food problem. It’s an income problem. That’s why we work locally, and with Trussell and food banks across the UK, for a more just and compassionate society where no one needs a food bank to survive.

Until this happens, with your help, we’ll provide a warm welcome, emergency food, and practical support and advice to people in their hardest moments. Thank you.
