Our stocks of emergency food are very low, after our busiest winter on record.
Right now we’re struggling to restock our six food bank welcome centres across Wandsworth Borough, where local people come to receive emergency food, advice and support.
Can you help local people and families across Wandsworth Borough by donating food and essential toiletries or finances to ensure everyone who’s referred to our food bank gets the help they need in the month ahead?
On average, households referred to food banks like ours are left with just £104 a week after housing costs to cover food, energy bills, travel, toiletries, and other essentials. This is only 17% of what the average UK household has left after paying their rent or mortgage. (Source: Trussell)
Local people we meet often have to choose between paying their rent to keep their home, topping up their prepayment meter to keep warm, or being able to afford sufficient food for themselves and their children. The stress on people and families in these situations is immense.
