Generous shoppers at Asda near Clapham Junction donated an amazing half a tonne of food and essentials between 9am-2pm on Saturday! We are so grateful for all the size 6/7 nappies, peanut butter, honey, UHT milk, tinned fish and lots more that was donated – it will make a real difference to local people who need to use our food bank.
It was also lovely to chat to people who hadn’t heard of Wandsworth Foodbank before, and to people who regularly donate at their local Asda, and to several people who’d had to use our food bank in difficult times previously and now were able to donate.
One local grandmother told us:
I had to use Wandsworth Foodbank when I was facing a lot of problems. They helped me really well, so I said to myself if I ever get the chance to do something, I will. That’s why I’m donating today.
Every month we’re providing emergency food and support to around 1000 local people, and 63% of food parcels go to households with children. If you’d like to bring help and hope to local people and families in some of the hardest times, you can make a financial gift online and/or find out where you can donate food and essentials any day of the week. Thank you!
