We have seen a 40% rise in Wandsworth Foodbank use during July and August 2019

20th September 2019

This Summer we have seen a 40% rise in Wandsworth Foodbank use during July and August from last year! We handed out over 1000 emergency food supplies, which is a shocking reality of a country where more than 4 million children are in poverty.

Monday 16th September, in education questions, the MP for Battersea, Marsha de Cordova, asked the minister to publish the figures on how many children went hungry this Summer. Watch it here: https://twitter.com/MarshadeCordova/status/1171078882566520833

We do not want Foodbank use to become the norm! The work the Trussell Trust does, along with all the Foodbanks and volunteers working together with one voice, means that we can continue to raise the experiences of people in crisis into the national conversation.

“We can shine a light on what must change, and we can build pressure for that change to be made”.  Emma Revie, CEO of Trussell Trust
