Foodbank Manager Dan meets the Chancellor at 11 Downing Street

5th May 2026

Dan, Wandsworth Foodbank manager, was recently invited to 11 Downing Street to meet the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, and to mark the end of the two child limit to Universal Credit, a policy that was evidenced to pull families and children into poverty.

Calling for the end to this policy (which was introduced in 2017) is something we’ve campaigned on with our local MPs, and we look forward to local families across our borough and the UK having more money in their pockets for essentials like food. Across Wandsworth, 6,690 children were impacted by the two-child limit.

Being part of the Trussell national community of UK food banks helps us advocate together for positive policies that will better support people, and reduce their need for emergency food.

As many local areas, including our own, have local elections this week, we hope and pray that people will vote for politicians and policies that support people when we need it most, so that together we can end hardship and the need for food banks locally and across the UK.
