Storm Eunice: our food bank centres are closed today

18th February 2022

We’ve taken the difficult decision to close our food bank centres and warehouse today – Friday 18 Feb – due to the Met Office issuing a rare Red Weather Warning for London  because of the impact of Storm Eunice. This warning advises people to stay home if they possibly can, due to the risk including:

  • Flying debris resulting in danger to life
  • Damage to buildings and homes, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down

It means our we won’t open our welcome centres in Battersea this morning or Roehampton this afternoon, as travelling would not be safe for our guests or volunteers.

We are currently calling everyone referred to us in hardship, to arrange alternative help that suits each person best. We are aiming to run our Saturday session at Shaftesbury Christian Centre, Battersea tomorrow morning as usual – and people who have vouchers for today are welcome to use them there or any any of our welcome sessions across Wandsworth borough next week.

Thank you for you ongoing support for us, and for the people we serve.
