Worrying about Money leaflet

We and other local charities have created a free, useful leaflet about where to find help if you can't afford essentials

It can be hard knowing where to find help if you, or someone you’re supporting, is experiencing financial hardship. In our experience, no one wants to use a food bank. It’s a last resort when other support has failed, or when people don’t know where else to turn.

That’s why we and other local charities have produced this Worrying about Money leaflet for Wandsworth. You can download and print it for yourself or the people you support – and there’s also an online version if you prefer.

On 22 March 2022 at 1-2pm, you’re warmly invited to our launch of the local Worrying about Money leaflet. It’s a chance to hear from some of the organisations involved in producing it, to find out what local help and advice is available to people you support, and to ask any questions you might have. You can book your free place here, and do please invite colleagues.

We hope it helps local people find the expert advice and support they need – so that ideally everyone can have enough income for essential costs like rent, fuel and food. It also has information about emergency support like Wandsworth Council’s discretionary support grants for rent, food and fuel, and essential white goods and furniture.

We are always so glad to help people who need us, but we know that having enough money in our pockets for essentials is a much better solution.

It’s also why we have our Foodbank Advice Project in partnership with Citizens Advice Wandsworth. Last year they helped more than 500 households referred to us to maximise income, and start to resolve problems with benefits, debt, housing etc which were causing hardship.
